street names

i received a call this morning.
Its from a client asking for direction on how to get to our office.

She gave me a name which i never heard before "Edgedave Plain" (something like tat, dont know wat she saying also...) ... I tot its a place in UK.

Y does LTA or whoever in charge of naming street names so ang moh...

I looked into the street directory. OMG, still got places call Fernvale, Anchorvale, Compassvale, etc

Cant they name them as Jalan Fern Road, Anchor St, Compass Ave or Lorong Edge? They sounded more local mah...

Or name some streets with those millionaires or ppl who contributed to Spore lah. eg. President Road, MM Ave, SM St or Jalan PM. i think sporeans would prefer this.
Who say we cant have these... We already got Kim Seng Road, Toh Tuck Road, Meng Teck Road. hm... who are these ppl... i also dont know...
